About Unitism Consulting
A legacy of economic wisdom serving communities for over 85 years
Our Foundation
The School of Economic Science (SES) was incorporated as a non-profit educational organization in Ontario by Letters Patent on September 11, 1939. One of the original incorporators, Arthur Roebuck, was a former Attorney-General of Ontario (1934-1937) and served as a Senator from 1945 until his death in 1971.
SES has been a registered educational charity since 1967, with the CRA Program Account Number: 888707262 RR 0001. For over eight decades, we have been committed to teaching the principles of political economy through classes, lectures, seminars, and published materials.
Since its founding, SES has worked to promote the principles of political economy based primarily on the writings of Adam Smith, David Ricardo, John Stuart Mill, and Henry George.
Our Economic Philosophy
SES focuses on tri-factor economics, in which land or nature is recognized as a distinctive factor of production alongside labor and capital. This factor yields a unique form of income called economic rent — a form of wealth in the community that is distinct from labor or capital income.
Since economic rent is the collective result of all individual actors and entities in the productive economy, SES studies the economic and ethical theory that as much of it as possible should be used for the benefit of the community rather than captured privately.
This approach recognizes that the value of land and natural resources is created collectively by society, not by individual landowners. Therefore, capturing economic rent for public benefit can reduce inequality, fund public services, and create more just and sustainable economic systems.
Our Partner Organizations
Common Wealth Canada

Martin Adams is a systems thinker, software engineer, and author of "Land: A New Paradigm for a Thriving World". His work explores how economies can function fairly and sustainably by uncovering the patterns that make living systems thrive.
After studying business and finance, Martin chose not to pursue a career on Wall Street. Instead, he set out to understand why so many people struggle while wealth keeps concentrating in fewer hands. Through years of research and real-world experiences with community projects, he found that much of this imbalance comes from people extracting income from the value of land and other shared resources — value created by society and nature, not by individual effort.
Building on the insights of classical economists such as Henry George and other reformers who studied land, value, and justice, Martin's work brings these timeless ideas into the modern era. He explains in simple, practical terms how changing the way we manage land and natural wealth could reduce inequality, lower housing costs, and help the planet recover — while turbocharging productivity and innovation.
